Explanation Text

 Assalamualaikum...

Hello, come back with me Alif, today I will explain about Explanation Text

Definition of explanation text

Explanation text is a text that explains about a process or sequence of phenomena.

Generic structure of explanation text

1. Title

2. General statement -> Stating the phenomena or issues which are being explained.

3. Explanation -> Stating the series of steps which explain the issues or phenomena.

Purpose of explanation text

An explanation text is written to explain how and why something (natural or socio-cultural phenomena) in the world happen. The text contains the process or sequence of the phenomena.

Example of Explanation Text

Mammatus Clouds

Mammatus comes from the Latin mamma which translates to “udder” or “breast”. Their striking appearance is most visible when the sun is low in the sky and their pouches are framed by the sunlight. This supplementary feature is a firm favourite with many meteorologists as well as cloud and photography enthusiasts.

Mammatus clouds are some of the most unusual and distinctive clouds formations with a series of bulges or pouches emerging from the base of a cloud. The shape of mammatus formations can vary widely; from the classic protruding shape, to a more elongated tube hanging from the cloud above.

Mammatus clouds are usually formed in association with large cumulonimbus clouds. Typically, turbulence within the cumulonimbus cloud will cause mammatus to form, especially on the underside of the projecting anvil as it rapidly descends to lower levels. This reverses the usual cloud-forming process of upward growth, making for an uneven cloud base.

Mammatus often forms in association with Cumulonimbus clouds, which in turn bring thunderstorms due to their huge mass of unstable air. Mammatus cloud generally form in the most unstable cumulonimbus, meaning that there is also a chance of hail, heavy rain and lightning in the vicinity, and if the air is cold enough during winter they can produce snow. Sometimes mammatus may form on other cloud types which produce no rain, though this is far less common.

Mammatus usually form on the base of a cumulonimbus anvil, but they have also been sighted to form on other cloud types, such as stratocumulus, altostratus and altocumulus. Mammatus have also been observed to form on the underside of volcanic ash clouds.

Pandemic : Covid-19

Assalamualaikum...

Hello, come back with me Alif, today I will explain about Corona Virus or COVID-19.

What is Coronavirus and COVID-19?

Coronavirus is a large family virus that causes disease in humans and animals. In humans, it usually causes respiratory infections, from the common cold to serious illnesses such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). A new type of coronavirus that was discovered in humans since the outbreak occurred in Wuhan China, in December 2019, was then named Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-COV2), and causes Coronavirus Disease-2019 (COVID-19).

How does this virus spread between people?

COVID-19 is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which spreads between people, mainly when an infected person is in close contact with another person.

The virus can spread from an infected person’s mouth or nose in small liquid particles when they cough, sneeze, speak, sing or breathe heavily. These liquid particles are different sizes, ranging from larger ‘respiratory droplets’ to smaller ‘aerosols’.

Other people can catch COVID-19 when the virus gets into their mouth, nose or eyes, which is more likely to happen when people are in direct or close contact (less than 1 metre apart) with an infected person.

Current evidence suggests that the main way the virus spreads is by respiratory droplets among people who are in close contact with each other.

Aerosol transmission can occur in specific settings, particularly in indoor, crowded, and inadequately ventilated spaces, where an infected person(s) spend long periods of time with others, such as restaurants, choir practices, fitness classes, nightclubs, offices, and/or places of worship. More studies are underway to better understand the conditions in which aerosol transmission is occurring outside of medical facilities where specific medical procedures, called aerosol-generating procedures, are conducted.

The virus can also spread after infected people sneeze, cough on, or touch surfaces, or objects, such as tables, doorknobs, and handrails. Other people may become infected by touching these contaminated surfaces, then touching their eyes, noses, or mouths without having cleaned their hands first.

Jimi Hendrix

Jimi Hendrix Biography

Jimi Hendrix learned to play guitar as a teenager and grew up to become a rock legend who excited audiences in the 1960s with his innovative electric guitar playing. One of his most memorable performances was at Woodstock in 1969, where he performed "The Star-Spangled Banner." Hendrix died in 1970 from drug-related complications, leaving his mark on the world of rock music and remaining popular to this day.

Early Years

Hendrix was born Johnny Allen Hendrix (later changed by his father to James Marshall) on November 27, 1942, in Seattle, Washington. He had a difficult childhood, sometimes living in the care of relatives or acquaintances.

His mother, Lucille, was only 17 years old when Hendrix was born. She had a stormy relationship with his father, Al, and eventually left the family after the couple had two more children together, sons Leon and Joseph. Hendrix would only see his mother sporadically before her death in 1958.

In many ways, music became a sanctuary for Hendrix. He was a fan of blues and rock and roll, and with his father's encouragement taught himself to play guitar.

When Hendrix was 16, his father bought him his first acoustic guitar, and the next year his first electric guitar — a right-handed Supro Ozark that the natural lefty had to flip upside down to play. Shortly thereafter, he began performing with his band, the Rocking Kings. In 1959, he dropped out of high school and worked odd jobs while continuing to follow his musical aspirations.

Military Service

In 1961, Hendrix followed in his father's footsteps by enlisting in the United States Army. While training as a paratrooper, Hendrix still found time for music, forming a band named the King Kasuals. Hendrix served in the army until 1962 when he was honorably discharged after injuring himself during a parachute jump.

After leaving the military, Hendrix began working under the name Jimmy James as a session musician, playing backup for such performers as Little RichardB.B. KingSam Cooke and the Isley Brothers. In 1965 he also formed a group of his own called Jimmy James and the Blue Flames, which played gigs around New York City's Greenwich Village neighborhood.

Jimi Hendrix Experience

In mid-1966, Hendrix met Chas Chandler — bass player of the British rock group the Animals — who signed an agreement with Hendrix to become his manager. Chandler convinced Hendrix to go to London, where he joined forces with bassist Noel Redding and drummer Mitch Mitchell to form the Jimi Hendrix Experience.

While performing in England, Hendrix built up quite a following among the country's rock royalty, with the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Who and Eric Clapton all becoming great admirers of his work. One critic for the British music magazine Melody Maker said that he "had great stage presence" and looked at times as if he were playing "with no hands at all."

"Hey Joe"

Released in 1967, the Jimi Hendrix Experience's first single, "Hey Joe," was an instant smash in Britain and was soon followed by hits such as "Purple Haze" and "The Wind Cries Mary."

On tour to support his first album, Are You Experienced? (1967), Hendrix delighted audiences with his outrageous guitar-playing skills and his innovative, experimental sound. In June 1967 he also won over American music fans with his stunning performance at the Monterey Pop Festival, which ended with Hendrix lighting his guitar on fire.

'Electric Ladyland'

Quickly becoming a rock superstar, later that year Hendrix scored again with his second album, Axis: Bold as Love (1967).

His final album as part of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Electric Ladyland (1968), featured the hit "All Along the Watchtower," which was written by Bob Dylan. The band continued to tour until it split up in 1969.

"The Star-Spangled Banner" at Woodstock

In 1969, Hendrix performed at another legendary musical event: the Woodstock Music Festival. Hendrix, the last performer to appear in the three-day-plus festival, played a rock rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" that amazed the crowds and demonstrated his considerable talents as a musician.

Also an accomplished songwriter and producer by this time, Hendrix had his own recording studio, Electric Lady, in which he worked with different performers to try out new songs and sounds.

In late 1969, Hendrix put together a new group, forming Band of Gypsys with his army buddy Billy Cox and drummer Buddy Miles. The band never really took off, however, and Hendrix began working on a new album tentatively named First Rays of the New Rising Sun, with Cox and Mitch Mitchell. Sadly, Hendrix would not live to complete the project.

Death

Hendrix died in London from drug-related complications on September 18, 1970, at the age of 27. He left an indelible mark on the world of rock music and remains popular to this day.

As one journalist wrote in the Berkeley Tribe, "Jimi Hendrix could get more out of an electric guitar than anyone else. He was the ultimate guitar player."

How to Use

 Assalamualaikum...

Hello, come back with me Alif today I will explain the procedure text "How To Use"

Procedure text is a text that explains or helps us how to make or use something. Its social function is to describe how something is completely done through a sequence of series. The communicative purpose of this text is to describe how something is made through a sequence of actions or steps.

procedure text also has a purpose, that is:

  • To explain/tell (the reader) how to make/operate/do something through a sequence of actions or steps.
  • To explain steps/instruction to make/operate/do something

and now I will make an example :

How to Use Blade Coffee Grinder

1. Grind your coffee as close to brewing as possible in order to get the full flavor profile of your beans.

2. Use short bursts, each lasting for only a few seconds, so as to prevent burning the coffee. No matter what you do, don’t just let it rip. Remember, this not a race.

3. Press the lid tightly to the grinder body and shake it up and down during short bursts. This will help mix things up and possibly get a more even grind. To make things more interesting, pretend you’re James Bond preparing a “Vodka Martini, shaken, not stirred.”

4. Adjust your grind according to your brew method. The best way to do this is to rub some grind between your fingers. This will give you a sense of how fine or coarse your grind is.
o    For a coarse grind start off with 8-10 seconds.
o    For a medium grind try 10-15 seconds.
o    Taste the result and adjust accordingly. Eventually, you’ll get a sense of how long you need to grind your coffee beans.

How to Make Indonesian Kopi Tobruk

1. Spoon a heaping tablespoon of the Kopi Tobruk into a coffee mug or a beer mug. Beer mugs are common in Indonesia but they serve as tea mugs. Teas are often over-watered and flavorless so they need to drink a lot of it, but that’s another story. Add sugar to the Kopi Tobruk if you wish.

2. Boil potable water but pull it off the fire immediately upon reaching boiling point. Do not allow it to go into a roiling boil as this will cause the water, as subsequently your coffee, to taste flat. Pour enough water to fill your mug to about a centimeter from the brim.

3. Stir so the coffee grounds and the water mix well.

4. Leave alone for about 3-5 minutes. This will give the coffee grounds time to settle to the bottom.

5. Enjoy your coffee, but take care not to disturb the coffee “mud” at the bottom of your mug as you drink. Discard the dregs afterward, but not into the sink as this will eventually clog your sink's P-trap.

How To Do

 Assalamualaikum...

Hello, come back with me Alif today I will explain the procedure text "How To Do"

How to do Beatbox

1. Understand how many voices you can master.

To get started, you'll need to master three basic sounds for a beatbox: the classic {b} kick drum, hi-hat {t}, and the classic {p} or {pf} snare drum. Practice the sound combination into an 8 beat rhythm like this: {b t pf t / b t pf t} or {b t pf t / b b pf t}. Make sure your timing is right. Start slowly and then increase the speed.

2. Practice the classic kick drum sound {b}.

The easiest way to produce a classic kick drum sound is to say the letter "b". In order for the sound to be louder and more real, you need to do lip oscillations. This action means you drain and vibrate the air through the slit of your lips - like when you wanted to make fun of someone. Once you can do this, do an oscillation. Make the b sound as if you were saying b from the word bonus. This time, with your lips closed, let the pressure build-up. You have to control the stop of the lip shaking after a while.

3. Next, try imitating the hi-hat {t}.

Make a simple "ts" sound but your teeth are closed or slightly closed. Move the tip of your tongue forward behind your front teeth for a thin hat sound and the traditional t position for a heavy hat sound. Breathe longer to make the hat opening sound.

4. Try producing successive or increasing hi-hat sounds.

You can also do this by making a "tktktk" sound, using the center of the back of your tongue to make a "k" sound. You can make a hi-hat opening sound by exhaling when you say "ts", so it sounds more like "tssss". This trick will create a more realistic open sound. Another way to produce a real hi-hat sound is to make a “ts” sound when your teeth are tightly positioned.

5. Try the classic {p} snare drum sound.

The easiest way to make a classic snare sound is to say the letter "p". However, the usual 'p' sound was too low. To make it louder, you can do several things: the first is to make a lip oscillation. This means that you are expelling air from your mouth so that your lips vibrate. Alternatively, you can exhale while you make the [ph] sound at the same time. To make the 'p' sound more interesting and sound more like a snare, most beatboxers add a second (continuous) sigh sound to the initial 'p' sound: pf ps psh bk. The {pf} variation is almost the same as the bass drum, except that you use the front of the lips instead of the sides, and tighten the lips. Pull your lips so that they are slightly hidden as if you don't have teeth. Add a little air pressure behind the hidden lips. Swing your lips out (not a real swing). Before the lips return to their original position (not hidden), exhale air while making a 'p' sound. As soon as you exhale while making a "p" sound, pinch your lips and lower teeth together to make a "fff" sound.
